Morris Material
Handling was recently called upon by Mowlem Major and Special Projects,
to design and install a unique special material handling equipment
system for a New Acute Hospital in South Cleveland.
Morris designed
six retractable runway systems to transport hospital maintenance
equipment in and out of the hospital building and between the hospital
rooms. The systems are designed to be easy to maintain and operate.
The versatile runways span up to 4 and 8 metres in length and are
able to run through doorway openings, which can be opened and closed
with ease. Stored inside the hospital building they are protected
from external weather conditions and allow the building to have
a clean exterior face. Mounted from supporting steelwork inside
the building each runway is fitted with Morris' market leading,
S3 hoist which is suitable for any application where headroom is
low and encompass state-of-the-art technology which protect the
equipment and it's operator, extend the equipment's life span and
enhance performance. The cutting edge features of the S3 include,
advanced condition monitoring, load limiters, thermal protection
and fan cooled motors.
Morris have
installed two of the six runway systems and commissioned one of
them and the remaining systems are to be installed later this year
on completion of the hospital building.
The specialist
experience of Morris Material Handling's in-house engineering was
essential for the project's success and this was one of the reasons
that Mowlem turned to Morris to supply the system. Pat Duggan Procurement
and General Manager, Mowlem Major and Special Projects said, "We
are very pleased with Morris' design."
