Morris Material
Handling has strengthened its association with world leading rail
transportation provider, Bombardier. In addition to providing round-the
clock service and maintenance provision of Bombardier's crane, hoists
and lifting equipment at its rail manufacturing facility and refurbishment
centre in Derby, Morris Material Handling has now assumed responsibility
for ensuring that they meet all their commitments under the LOLER
regulations
1998, along with all other statutory inspections across the 330,000
sq m site.
Coordinated from Morris Material Handling regional service centre
in Loughborough, the new level of service provision involves the
statutory examination of Bombardier's 72 on-site cranes, both overhead
and goliath, as well as other lifting equipment, hoist chain blocks,
Genie lifts, carriage lifting jacks, swing jibs, and all associated
loose lifting equipment. Whilst being subject to a one-off annual
examination, Morris Material Handling is also responsible for the
biannual inspection of all below the hook equipment.
Aware of the importance of keeping its lifting equipment in excellent
working order, Bombardier has also tasked Morris with managing the
planned maintenance of its cranes and hoists an additional three
times per annum, over and above the statutory requirement.
Comments Bombardier's Services Engineer, Graham Moody: "We
enjoy an excellent working relationship with Morris Materials Handling.
Not only are they a very efficient and reliable service provider,
we experience no problems whatsoever with the working relationship
that exists between both organisations."
He added: "Given the high levels of support that Morris already
provides on a 24/7 basis relating to the ongoing service, maintenance
and repair at our Derby site, we are obviously pleased to have extended
our association with them with regards to statutory inspections."
Whilst Morris Material Handling has a planned maintenance regime
in place with Bombardier at its rail manufacturing and refurbishment
centre in Derby, a team of seven technicians based at the Loughborough
service centre remain on standby to provide an immediate respond
should breakdown of failure occur. Such service provision covers
both mechanical and electrical componentry.
Commenting on behalf of Morris Materials Handling, Pat Campbell,
Operations Director Maintenance Services said: "We are obviously
delighted to have been given the opportunity to extend our working
relationship with such a leading global player in the field of rail
transportation. This latest development reaffirms our ability to
provide customers with a full and comprehensive service support
package for cranes, hoists and other materials handling equipment."
